In this role you will be charged with building the mergers and acquisition engine at SLP. You will identify industries, build relationships with sellers, perform due diligence, facilitate the transaction process, and more. Does this describe you?
You find satisfaction in performing full cycle deal origination activities, including competitive landscape mapping, building contact lists, managing multi-channel outbound prospect campaigns, pipeline reporting, and technology stack administration. You desire a role that will be crucial in developing relationships for opportunity qualification and performing early company financial/operational due diligence to ascertain alignment with SLP’s investment criteria.
We appreciate fast-paced, entrepreneurial thinkers who can solve problems creatively, are meticulous, and are passionate about forging relationships with company founders to learn about their businesses. We are particularly interested in candidates with a proven aptitude for sales, possess the ability to analyze financials statements, have strong excel skills, and can demonstrate proficiency in building financial models.
Job Responsibilities:
- Forge and present industry theses that align with SLP's investment criteria.
- Map and perform due diligence on targeted companies in identified industries.
- Maintain and manage databases and build contact lists.
- Oversee and conduct outbound prospecting outreach across various channels including cold calling, email, social media, direct mail, and conference/event attendance.
- Administer technology stack including outbound prospecting software, marketing automation, generative AI, CRM configuration, scheduling software, web scraping applications, and more.
- Manage third-party contractors, brokers, or interns who support deal sourcing efforts.
- Report on the full funnel of prospecting outreach activity and effectiveness.
- Build trusted relationships with company founders and inspire their confidence in SLP as a partner by communicating the story of our operating group.
- Support in valuation work to facilitate pricing conversations with founders.
Qualifications:
- 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience in software sales, business development, corporate development, boutique investment banking, private equity, management consulting, or commercial due diligence consulting.
- Proven interpersonal and written communication skills, with a knack for relationship-building and sales.
- Operate on a foundation of data-driven decision-making and experimentation.
- Exhibit a growth mindset, entrepreneurial spirit, and authentic curiosity in learning about new industries and SaaS businesses.
- Open to feedback, believing in its importance for continuous improvement, and possessing a 'no task is too small' attitude.
- Prior experience with technology required to conduct large scale outreach campaigns including email prospecting/automation, database management, CRM, scheduling, web scraping, and a curiosity in how generative AI/other proprietary tools can aid.
- Demonstrated P&L fluency with the ability to evaluate a prospective company against the SLP investment criteria given raw sets of data for analysis.
